Learning Objectives
After completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Consistently ask patients about work/sleep hours, sleep habits, and sleep hygiene to screen for those who may be at risk for shift work disorder (SWD).
- Identify patients who require referral to sleep centers for definitive diagnosis and management of SWD.
- Design management plans for SWD tailored to individual patients, accommodating their personal schedules and medical profiles.
- Describe potential liability issues and the responsibilities incumbent upon clinicians to recognize and manage SWD in their patients.
